ধূপগুড়ি :- ফি বৃদ্ধির প্রতিবাদে বিক্ষোভে সামিল ধূপগুড়ি সুকান্ত মহাবিদ্যালয়ের ছাত্রছাত্রীরা।ঘটনা ঘিরে এদিন ব্যপক বিক্ষোভ ছড়ায় কলেজ চত্বরে।    কলেজের অধ্যক্ষকে ঘিরে বিক্ষোভ দেখায় কলেজের ছাত্রছাত্রীরা।পাশাপাশি ধূপগুড়ি-ফালাকাটাগামী ৩১ নং জাতীয় সড়ক অবরোধ করেও বিক্ষোভ দেখায় কলেজের পড়ুয়ারা।

ফালাকাটা: গোপন অভিযান চালিয়ে বিশাল সাফল্য পেলো আলিপুরদুয়ার জেলার ফালাকাটা থানা পুলিশ,হদিশ পেলো বড়সড় গাড়ি পাচার চক্রের। গোপন সূত্রে অভিযান চালিয়ে ফালাকাটার ৩১নং জাতীয় সড়কের দোলাল দোকান এলাকা থেকে ছয়টি ভুয়ো নম্বর প্লেটের লরি বাজেয়াপ্ত করেন ফালাকাটা থানার পুলিশ বাহিনী এবং মাদারিহাট থানার শিশুবাড়ি এলাকা থেকে আরো তিনটি লরি বাজেয়াপ্ত করে।এই ঘটনায় গাড়ির নম্বর জাল করার অপরাধে দুই জনকে গ্রেপ্তার করেছেন পুলিশ।  ফালাকাটার একটি গ্যারেজে চোরাই গাড়ি গুলিকে নিয়ে এসে নম্বর বদল করে নাগাল্যান্ডের নম্বর লাগিয়ে বিক্রি করে দেন বলে পুলিশ জানতে পেরেছে। পুলিশের অনুমান, ওই চক্রের সাথে উত্তর-পূর্বাঞ্চলের গাড়ি পাচার চক্রের যোগসাজশ  রোয়েছে।জেলার পুলিশ সুপার নগেন্দ্রনাথ ত্রিপাঠি জানিয়েছেন "ওই চক্র দেশের বিভিন্ন এলাকা থেকে লরি পাচার করে এনে গাড়ির চেসিস,ইঞ্জিন ও রেজিষ্ট্রেশন নম্বর বদল করে উত্তর-পূর্বাঞ্চলের রাজ্য গুলিতে পাচার করে দিত। গ্রেপ্তার দুই জনকে এদিন আলিপুরদুয়ার জেলার আদালতে পেশ করা হলে পুলিশ তাদের পাঁচ দিনের রিমান্ডে নিয়েছে বলে জানা যায়। - অভিজিৎ পাল

MUMBAI: Facing flak from various right-wing groups and activists for carrying a placard "Free Kashmir" at a protest near the Gateway of India, a Mumbai woman claimed it was "intended for peace in Jammu & Kashmir", and apologised for the misunderstanding it created, here on Tuesday. The placard was seen in her hand on Monday evening during the protests in Mumbai to condemn the violence on the Jawaharlal Nehru University campus two days ago, triggered a political controversy. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader of opposition Devendra Fadnavis demanded to know what the protest was exactly about and why slogans of 'Free Kashmir' were raised there. "How can we tolerate such separatist elements in Mumbai? 'Free Kashmir' slogan by Azadi gang at 2 kms from the CMO?
