ফালাকাটা: গোপন অভিযান চালিয়ে বিশাল সাফল্য পেলো আলিপুরদুয়ার জেলার ফালাকাটা থানা পুলিশ,হদিশ পেলো বড়সড় গাড়ি পাচার চক্রের। গোপন সূত্রে অভিযান চালিয়ে ফালাকাটার ৩১নং জাতীয় সড়কের দোলাল দোকান এলাকা থেকে ছয়টি ভুয়ো নম্বর প্লেটের লরি বাজেয়াপ্ত করেন ফালাকাটা থানার পুলিশ বাহিনী এবং মাদারিহাট থানার শিশুবাড়ি এলাকা থেকে আরো তিনটি লরি বাজেয়াপ্ত করে।এই ঘটনায় গাড়ির নম্বর জাল করার অপরাধে দুই জনকে গ্রেপ্তার করেছেন পুলিশ।  ফালাকাটার একটি গ্যারেজে চোরাই গাড়ি গুলিকে নিয়ে এসে নম্বর বদল করে নাগাল্যান্ডের নম্বর লাগিয়ে বিক্রি করে দেন বলে পুলিশ জানতে পেরেছে। পুলিশের অনুমান, ওই চক্রের সাথে উত্তর-পূর্বাঞ্চলের গাড়ি পাচার চক্রের যোগসাজশ  রোয়েছে।জেলার পুলিশ সুপার নগেন্দ্রনাথ ত্রিপাঠি জানিয়েছেন "ওই চক্র দেশের বিভিন্ন এলাকা থেকে লরি পাচার করে এনে গাড়ির চেসিস,ইঞ্জিন ও রেজিষ্ট্রেশন নম্বর বদল করে উত্তর-পূর্বাঞ্চলের রাজ্য গুলিতে পাচার করে দিত। গ্রেপ্তার দুই জনকে এদিন আলিপুরদুয়ার জেলার আদালতে পেশ করা হলে পুলিশ তাদের পাঁচ দিনের রিমান্ডে নিয়েছে বলে জানা যায়। - অভিজিৎ পাল

New Delhi:  Workers belonging to 10 central trade unions have called for Bharat Bandh, a nationwide strike, on January 8 (Wednesday). The strike is against the labour reforms and economic policies of the Central government. The trade union include INTUC, AITUC, HMS, CITU, AIUTUC, TUCC, SEWA, AICCTU, LPF, UTUC along with various sectoral independent federations. The unions said that more than 250 million workers will participate in the 'Bharat Bandh' to press for a 12-point common demand related to minimum wage and social security, among others. চালসা,৫ জানুয়ারি : পিকনিক থেকে ফেরার পথে দুর্ঘটনার কবলে পড়ল একটি যাত্রীবাহী বাস। রবিবার সন্ধ্যায় ঘটনাটি ঘটে মালবাজার-চালসা মুখী ৩১ নম্বর জাতীয় সড়কের কুর্তি সেতু সংলগ্ন এলাকায়। যদিও ঘটনায় কেউ গুরুতর আহত হয়নি। জানা গিয়েছে, এদিন গাড়িটি গরুবাথান থেকে পিকনিক করে যাত্রী নিয়ে চালসা আসছিল। কুর্তি সেতু সংলগ্ন এলাকায় আসতেই বাসটি নিয়ন্ত্রণ হারিয়ে রাস্তার পাশে কাত হয়ে যায়। বাসে থাকা ৩ জন যাত্রী সামান্য আহত হয়। খবর পেয়ে মেটেলি থানার পুলিশ এসে গাড়িটিকে উদ্ধার করে নিয়ে যায়। - Avijit Paul

NAIROBI: Somali Islamist terrorists said they destroyed seven aircraft and three vehicles on Sunday in an attack on a military base in Kenya's Lamu county used by both US and Kenyan troops, although their account could not be independently verified. তুফানগঞ্জে রহস্যজনক আগুনে পুড়ল গাড়ি তুফানগঞ্জ, ৫ জানুয়ারি :  শনিবার গভীর রাতে আগুনে পুড়ে গেল একটি গাড়ি। ঘটনাটি ঘটেছে তুফানগঞ্জ শহর সংলগ্ন অন্দরান ফুলবাড়ি-১ গ্রাম পঞ্চায়েতের বটতলা এলাকায়। রতন বর্মন নামে এক বাসিন্দা তাঁর বাড়ির সামনে গাড়িটি দাঁড় করিয়ে রেখেছিলেন। রাত আড়াইটে নাগাদ রতনবাবু বুঝতে পারেন গাড়িতে আগুন লেগেছে। প্রথমে আশাপাশের বাসিন্দারা আগুন নেভানোর চেষ্টা করলেও লাভ হয়নি। খবর দেওযা হয় তুফানগঞ্জ দমকল কেন্দ্র ও থানায়। ঘণ্টাখানেকের চেষ্টায় আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণে আসে। রতনবাবুর অভিযোগ, বরাবর তিনি বাড়ির সামনেই গাড়ি রাখেন। তাঁর আগে একটি গাড়ি ছিল। সেটিতেও কেউ বা কারা আগুন লাগিয়ে দেয়। ঋণ করে তিনি এই গাড়িটি কিনেছিলেন। সেই গাড়িটিও পুড়ে গেল। কেউ ষড়যন্ত্র করে বারবার গাড়িতে আগুন লাগিয়ে দিচ্ছে বলে অভিযোগ তাঁর। যদিও বিষয়টি নিয়ে থানায় লিখিত অভিযোগ জানানো হয়নি। অভিযোগ পেলে ঘটনা তদন্ত করে দেখা হবে বলে তুফানগঞ্জ থানার পুলিশ জানিয়েছে। - Avijit Paul

He hires prostitutes to feature in all the commercials for his products, which is when he meets Shraddha, and the duo gradually fall in love,” reveals a source.
